This Privacy Policy describes how Roger collects, uses, processes, and discloses your information, including personal data, in conjunction with your access to and use of the Roger mobile application ("Roger Driver"), the Roger website ("Roger Web"), and our associated logistics tracking services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We operate globally and aim to comply with major privacy frameworks, including the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, GDPR (EU/UK), and CCPA (USA).

1. Comprehensive Data Collection

A. Information You Provide

  • Account Data: Name, professional title, company name, email address, and phone number.
  • Profile Content: Photos, branding assets, or preferences uploaded to customize your tracking experience.
  • Communication Data: Records of support requests, feedback, and interactions with our team.

B. Critical Location Data (The Core Service)

Roger is primarily a real-time location sharing tool. We collect precise or approximate location data from your mobile device if you enable it through the app settings.

  • Background Tracking: Our "Roger Driver" app collects location data (latitude, longitude, speed, heading, altitude) even when the app is in the background or the screen is off. This is essential for providing your customers with continuous, hands-free tracking.
  • Duration: Tracking only occurs during an active "Job" state. It starts upon your explicit command and terminates automatically upon job completion or manual stop.

C. Automatically Collected Information

  • Log & Usage Data: IP addresses, browser type, device ID, crash logs, and battery health telemetry.
  • Cookies and Tracking: We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to maintain your session and analyze Service performance via tools like PostHog.

2. Processing Rationale (Legal Basis)

Under GDPR and similar laws, we process your data based on:

  • Contractual Necessity: To provide the tracking service you requested.
  • Legitimate Interests: To improve app performance, ensure security, and optimize battery management logic.
  • Consent: For specific location permissions and marketing communications.

3. Data Sharing & Sub-processors

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Recipients: Any individual you share a Tracking Link with can see your real-time location for that specific job.
  • Infrastructure Providers: Supabase (Database/Auth), Mapbox (Mapping), Resend (Email), and PostHog (Analytics). These providers are restricted from using your data for any other purpose.
  • App Stores: We share basic transaction data with the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to facilitate and validate your subscriptions.
  • Legal Obligations: If required to protect our rights, your safety, or comply with a judicial proceeding or court order.

4. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state or country where data protection laws may differ. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of information to New Zealand, the United States, and other jurisdictions where our sub-processors operate. We utilize Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure equivalent levels of protection.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain location pings and job history to provide you with a professional record of your work. You can request deletion of specific jobs or your entire account at any time. Upon account deletion, we purge or anonymize your data within 30 days, unless legally required to retain it.

6. Your Global Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you have the right to:

  • Access, update, or delete your information via the app settings.
  • Object to or restrict our processing of your data.
  • Data portability (receiving your data in a structured format).
  • Withdraw consent for location tracking at any time via device system settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Our service is strictly for professional use by individuals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 16. If we become aware of such collection, we will take immediate steps to delete the data.

8. Security Measures

We employ robust security protocols, including Row Level Security (RLS) on our databases and SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
